“Where cats learn to  cat”

About This Site

This site was started when Missy Elliot gave birth to The Horde. Most of the first few posts concern that. Since then, other types of posts have been added.

  • Our cats.
  • Humour.
  • Health.
  • Cat Products.
  • Other.

Many of the articles have been inspired from Twitter posts and Internet sites. These posts have some intro text and then a link to the actual article’s internet page.

About Us

We have done independent cat rescue for years on a personal level. Cats are found, given to us, or people tell us where to locate them. Even the local county animal control would call us sometimes. Once, when a meth house exploded nearby, a police car dropped off the only surviving puppy at our place.

Any cat that came to us would be nursed to proper health, get a vet visit with shots, and be spayed/neutered. We also made sure that they were mentally healthy and socialized with the other cats and humans. Then came the hard part: adopting them out.

As we have gotten older, money has gotten scarce and our health gone down, we have had to slow to a crawl.

About Missy and The Horde

Our most recent cat is a stray that has had several litters. We got her used to eating on the porch and provided a bed with a heating pad for the winter months. She started coming in but hid a lot and hissed at the other cats. She would stay in for a couple of hours or overnight but always wanted back out. She no longer hides but, being pregnant, she still doesn’t want to interact with the other cats.

She just gave birth inside a few days ago and has been very good with her kittens. They are staying in a closet to keep the other cats away and to keep her from trying to relocate them all the time. She has been happy not to go outside during this time.

After the kittens are weaned, we plan on keeping her and adopting out all the kittens, though we might keep one.

  1. Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

  2. Hi! I don’t know if you remember me from Twitter but I loved reading your tweets! You have beautiful cats!

At the time I was on Twitter my sister and I actively rescued cats and at one time had about 14. As the years went by, sadly some of our cats succumbed to mostly cancer and now we have 5 cats. But all our cats have been well-loved, well-fed, healthy and spoiled rotten!🥰

I’m no longer on Twitter due to some political tweets and a bout of long-lasting depression with some bad memories from earlier years involved in reducing me to pretty non-functional and confused. I got knocked off of the site but it has turned out very well. I’m working things out, my mind is much clearer and have become more settled and hopeful in my older years!♥️🐈♥️

Take care BKACat and I will enjoy your blog! (I can read Twitter but can’t reply.).

    Love, Tuxi
